PJSC TransContainer (part of Delo Group) resumed export transportation of coal produced by Vostsibdobycha LLC at Kharanutsky open-cut coal pit (Irkutsk Region). The cargo is delivered in 20-foot open-top containers to China via Zabaikalsk-Manzhouli border-crossing point. The coal is loaded at Irkutsk-Sortirovochny and Batareinaya stations. The destination point is Heilongjiang Province. Transit time is three days. The first 110-TEU-batch of containers was shipped from Irkutsk. In the future, the volume of transportation will increase up to 10 block trains (1,240 TEUs) per month.
Within the framework of the service, TransContainer provides flatcars, renders services on cargo delivery by railway to the border-crossing point, as well as transshipment onto wagons of Chinese gauge.
TransContainer arranges coal transportation as part of its own initiative to expand the range of cargo transported in containers. In 2021, the company shipped 6.8 thousand TEUs using such technology, in 2022 - almost 7 thousand TEUs.
Transportation of coal in containers along overland route is more technological and rhythmic, it eliminates the necessity to transship bulk cargo into "narrow gauge" wagons at the border. This is especially relevant in low temperature conditions, when solid fuel freezes up in the rolling stock, due to which it may stand idle for several days, thus reducing transit capacity of the border-crossing point with maximum load.
